History

Friends Forever is a group of loyal and dedicated volunteers and animal lovers in our community. Friends Forever was started in 1992 with one goal in mind: To support the Nebraska Humane Society (NHS) by making life better for companion animals through fund raising, public education and awareness.

Today

Since our journey began as small group of women volunteers, we have grown in number and are now more than 220 members strong but our mission remains the same: To promote the general welfare of companion animals and to enhance the bond of caring between animals and humans.

The funds raised through our member's generous support goes directly to NHS. During 2016 your generosity helped NHS find adoptive homes for more than 11,193 companion animals, perform 6,000 spay/neuter surgeries in its low-cost Spay/Neuter Center and assist more than 1,200 pet owners through education and training programs.

How we provide financial support:

        • Annual Friends Forever Membership Drive held each fall (October though December)
        • Black Tie & Tails (held bi-annually on even years)
        • Dining with Dogs (held bi-annually on odd years)
        • Purses for Paws
        • Walk for the Animals
How we provide education and awareness:
        • Take adoptable dogs into the community at large multiple times per month
        • Provide tours of the shelter to local community and school groups
        • Advocate for animal welfare both within the community and at the legislative level
